While most expected From Software to continue refining and releasing further Souls / Bloodborne games, the Japanese developers next move is to put a new spin on their third person hack n slashes / quasi RPGs. While Dark Souls and Bloodborne contained RPG elements such as character creation and classes, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice’s combat seems more inline with a fighting game – careful parrys and thrusts, looking for a free opening to make your killing blow. Great to see Hidetaka Miyazaki and his development team experimenting and changing the formula.

Another significant change from Bloodborne and the Souls series is the setting, Sekiro is set in a mythological ancient Japan rather than a gritty western setting. We’ve seen a few gameplay videos and the atmosphere is definitely that From Software quality we’ve come to expect from the Japanese developers:
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice launches on the 22nd March 2019, it’s my next big hitter for the year? Will you be buying it day one? What platform? Will it be an instant classic? Let us know.
